Practical Classes on the Site of a CHP Plant in Alibunar Organised for Students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade

On Thursday, 22 November 2018, another round of practical classes on the site of a CHP plant in Alibunar was organised for the students of the final year at the Thermal Engineering Department and Internal Combustion Engines Department of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade. Students visited a combined heat and power (CHP) generation plant whose construction was financially supported by UNDP/GEF project “Reducing Barriers to Accelerate the Development of Biomass Markets in Serbia”. Director Danko Vuković greeted the students on behalf of the owner of the plant, Bioenergy company.

Six Projects for the Installation of Biomass Fired Boilers to Heat Public Buildings within the Competence of Local Self-government Units

Six projects for the installation of biomass fired boilers to heat public facilities within the competence of local self-government units have been completed. Funds for the realization of projects have been awarded on the basis of the results of the public call for local self-government units announced by the Ministry of Mining and Energy. In 2017 Aleksandar Antic, Minister of Mining and Energy signed contracts with representatives of local self-governments on awarding grants for co-financing projects for the improvement of energy efficiency in public buildings within their competence.

Study tour to Lithuania on the Topic of Use of Biomass for Heat Generation in District Heating Systems Organized for Experts from Serbia

In the period from 17 to 23 September 2018, a study tour to Lithuania on the topic of use of biomass for heat generation in district heating systems (DHS) was organized for representatives of the cross-sectoral Biomass Support Unit which was established within the Ministry of Mining and Energy. Representatives of the Ministry of Mining and Energy – Section for Renewable Energy Sources, Forestry Administration and Administration for Rural Development of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, as well as representatives of the Association for Energy and Energy Mining of Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry took part in the study tour.

Presentation of Results of the Social Cost-Benefit Analysis and the Reports on Financial and Technical Barriers for Investments in CHP Facilities

Conference “Presentation of results of the social cost-benefit analysis and the reports on financial and technical barriers for investments in CHP facilities” was held in Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Belgrade on Thursday, 7 June 2018. The conference was organized within the scope of the project “Reducing Barriers to Accelerate the Development of Biomass Markets in Serbia” implemented by the United Nations Development Programme and the Ministry of Mining and Energy and financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). Speakers were: Dragan Loncar, PhD, Faculty of Economics in Belgrade, and Vesna Ruzic, PhD and Mladen Ilic, PhD, consulting firm “Energy Saving Group”.

Workshops for Preparation and Financing of Renewable Energy Projects in Agriculture

In order to strengthen capacities of farmers involved or interested in the IPARD programme, the UNDP Project organized one-day workshops for owners of agricultural holdings and representatives of Agricultural Advisory and Professional Services and local self-government units gravitating to Belgrade, Novi Sad, Pančevo, Ruma, Kruševac, and Niš. The workshops were held in the period form 20 May to 5 June 2018. The topic of the workshops was “Preparation and financing of projects of energy generation from renewable energy sources at agricultural holdings”.

Students of the University of Novi Sad Visited the CHP Plants in Bač

On Thursday, 26 April 2018, students of the final year at the Energy and Process Engineering Department of the Faculty of Technical Sciences and Agricultural Engineering Department of the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad took part in a one-day technical visit to a biogas plants in Bač which are owned by companies BGS Alfa, BGS Beta i BGS Gama. The students visited three combined heat and power (CHP) generation plants whose construction was financially supported by UNDP/GEF project “Reducing Barriers to Accelerate the Development of Biomass Markets in Serbia”. On behalf of companies, students were greeted by Mr. Miroslav Dian, Mr. Marian Holubek i Ms. Ana Gašparovska.
