Public call for grants presented in SCC

On Monday, May 18, 2015, the first presentation of the Public Call for Grants for the construction of biomass/biogas fired combined heat and power (CHP) facilities was organized in the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.
This Call, open from May 8 to October 15, 2015, was announced by the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia in order to support the investors to construct up to eight biomass/biogas CHP facilities. The funding for the realisation of the Call in the total value of 1.6 million USD is provided by the Global Environment Fund (GEF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the Project “Reducing Barriers to Accelerate the Development of Biomass Markets in Serbia”. Individual grants per project will make up to 15% of its investment value, or the maximum of 266,000 USD, as long as the total project investment value exceeds 1,200,000 USD.
The presentation of the Public Call which is open to all companies, cooperatives and physical persons performing the registered economic activity (entrepreneurs and agricultural estates) who meet the Call requirements, was attended by the representatives of business sector, potential investors and commercial banks interested to offer loans for these projects. The representatives of the Ministry of Mining and Energy, UNDP, the Project “Reducing Barriers to Accelerate the Development of Biomass Markets in Serbia” and the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia introduced them with the aim, conditions and details of the Call. After the presentation, the interested investors had the opportunity to discuss about all the components of the Call and the possibilities it offers with the representatives of relevant institutions and commercial banks.

The Project “Reducing Barriers to Accelerate the Development of Biomass Markets in Serbia” is realised within the international cooperation of the Republic of Serbia, the United Nations Development Programme, the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia. Its aim is the improvement of sustainable use of energy through the diversification of its sources and the development of biomass market and its use for generating energy in the Republic of Serbia.
