The meeting was attended by experts and representatives of international organizations from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan), Croatia, Georgia, Istanbul, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Ukraine.

The first day of this gathering focused on the role of UNDP in the Global Climate Context and was dedicated to climate change financing and engagement with the private sector and encouraging the COs to engage different financing mechanism and de-risking approaches.

After the new Global Energy database 2015 was introduced and detailed statistics on UNDP’s energy expenses over the past years presented, the role of social media was addressed through a training on Twitter.

During the MOP 2015, the Manager of the Project „Reducing Barriers to Accelerate the Development of Biomass Markets in Serbia“, Maja Matejić, presented the Public Call for Grants for the construction of biomass/biogas fired combined heat and power (CHP) facilities as a specific contribution to the promotion of private investment in bioenergy projects in Serbia. This initiative turned significant attention of all the participants who showed great interest in replicating this practice in their countries through their COs. This was additionally acknowledged throughout bilateral meetings which gave the participants an opportunity to meet and exchange their practices.

UNDP Country Office Serbia was also represented by Portfolio Manager for Climate Change, Mr. Miroslav Tadic, who presented the concept of the new Project “Climate Smart Urban Development“.
